Amy-Thake-head-shot

Amy Louise Thake

Amy was born in Hertfordshire and trained at the Royal Ballet Upper School where she performed and toured with both The Royal and Birmingham Royal Ballet. During her schooling she was a semi finalist in the 2003 Adeline Genee and won the Barbara Fewster Award in the same year. After graduating in 2004 Amy danced in mainly classical companies for seven years, spending a large amount of that time with The National Ballet of Ireland. Prominent roles whilst dancing in Ireland include the Waltz girl solo from Les Sylphides, Tchaikovsky’s variation and Pas de Deux and Nutcracker’s Sugar Plum Fairy. Amy enjoys being part of the creative process and having had a number of more modern roles created on her started to move in to more modern companies.

In 2008 she toured abroad as a guest artist with Staatstheater Bonn, a dance theatre company and Reach4Dance. Amy has also coached and rehearsed The National Ballet of Ireland as Ballet mistress as well as performing more contemporary works in Resolutions! Since joining Yorke Dance Project in 2011 Amy has enjoyed creating new works performed at Glastonbury as well as touring to LA with ‘City Limitless’ and collaborating with LA based company Pennington Dance Group in ‘Overlay’. Learning the technique of ballroom whilst rehearsing with Anton Du Beke has been a highlight of the year so far and Amy is very much looking forward to the upcoming season.
